After purchasing an iconic vintage home overlooking Town Cove in Orleans, the new owners immediately renovated the existing home and adjacent guest cottage, but left the landscaping virtually unchanged for two years. In the fall of 2015, we began a complete renovation of the home’s backyard which overlooks the water. An older pool, located closer to the water, was removed as were a couple of view-impeding trees. Our landscape design includes an oversized pool, with a spa, which was positioned closer to the home and makes the most of the view. The surrounding bluestone patio is large enough to accommodate an array of lounge chairs, a seating area grouped around a gas-operated fire pit, a dining area with seating for 16, and an outdoor kitchen with a six-stool bar. To one side of the home is a shaded, smaller dining area. The entrance now includes classic Cape Cod landscaping elements such as a clamshell drive, and rows of hydrangea and Cape Cod roses.
